Betting on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Can the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win Super Bowl 53? Probably not, but let’s take a look at their betting odds anyways. Currently, NFL betting odds sites have Jameis Winston and the Buccaneers sitting at 65-1 betting odds to win Super Bowl 2019. So much hype surrounded the Buccaneers and they were many’s dark-horse candidates to come out of the AFC and make some noise in the postseason.

Needless to say, 2017 couldn’t have been more different. It was a complete collapse of Dirk Koetter’s squad and they played mediocre football the entire season, finishing 5-11. With the fanbase expecting more from the talent they have, the Bucs’ Super Bowl chances revolve around the ability of Jameis Winston to make the next step in his career.

The Bucs have been patiently waiting for Winston to join the upper-echelon of NFL quarterbacks. Carson Wentz and Jared Goff did it this season but through three years, we’ve yet to see Winston do the same. He’s been flat out inconsistent and it’s been frustrating to watch. This offseason is a chance for Winston to evaluate things and I believe this is finally where we see the next progression in his game. 2018 is going to bring us a different quarterback and that’s going to bode well for the Bucs’ success.

There’s no question Winston has the intangibles. He’s got the arm talent and athleticism to be a top quarterback but his football IQ has been questionable. That’s something that can be corrected and Winston will continue to learn in the coming years. His completion percentage and yards per game have continually trended upward and I expect that to continue with a new season.

It’s a quarterback-driven league whether you like it or not and you have to have a consistent option under center. It’s going to take Winston’s best year if the Bucs want to think about a Super Bowl 2019 title.
