NFL Preseason Week 2 Betting

Today we look at NFL preseason Week 2 betting. Specifically, Eagles Patriots betting odds for Thursday, 08/16/18.

The second week of the NFL preseason kicks off. With a Super Bowl rematch between the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots. However, since it is the preseason and the starters won’t play significant minutes. Also, don’t expect the game to be as exciting as the Super Bowl was. The game will take place at Gillette Stadium on Thursday, August 16, and it is scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM. ET.

Philadelphia Eagles Analysis

Looking for Eagles Patriots betting odds? The Eagles lost their preseason opener to the Pittsburgh Steelers last week. Philadelphia will be looking for their first preseason win against the Patriots. Quarterbacks Carson Wentz and Nick Foles were held out of the game as a precaution, which meant plenty of playing time for Nate Sudfeld and Joe Callahan, who are competing for the third quarterback spot on the team.

Sudfeld looked impressive against Pittsburgh, finishing 10 of 14 for 140 yards and two touchdowns. However, he has to do a better job protecting the ball after throwing two interceptions in the game. Callahan struggled with his accuracy and finished 8 of 18 for 91 yards.

The Eagles should be happy with the production they got from their running backs, who combined for 106 yards on 24 carries. But they will need their defense to play better than they did against the Steelers to defeat the Patriots on Thursday.

New England Patriots Analysis

The Patriots overcame a slow start in their preseason opener to defeat the Washington Redskins 26-17. Bill Belichick didn’t want to risk an injury to his star player, Tom Brady, and kept the 2017 season MVP on the sidelines for the game. Enjoy these Eagles Patriots betting odds. Brian Hoyer got the start for the Patriots and finished the game completing 16 of 23 passes for 144 yards. Rookie quarterback Danny Etling, who the team is hoping will become Brady’s successor, finished 2 of 5 for 21 yards.

The Patriots emphasized the run against the Redskins and finished with 140 yards and three touchdowns on 40 carries. After a slow start to the game, their defense stepped up and shut the Redskins out in the second half. It’s only NFL preseason but it’s still fun.

The Patriots will likely focus on the run again as they try to get some payback against the Eagles on Thursday night.

Pick and Prediction

The betting lines for this game are not yet available, but the Patriots will likely be the favored team. With Philadelphia struggling to score in their first game, expect the Patriots to control the clock and get the win. That pretty much sums it up for NFL preaseason Week 2.
